SCENE 1: SEARCHING FOR A PRINCESS
Setting: Somewhere in the countryside.
Narrator: Thank you all for coming. Today we will present the play “The Princess and the Pea”. Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Playalong, Prince Hector decided it was time for him to marry. So he and his loyal servant, Fred, set out on their mighty horses, to find a princess.
(Prince Hector and Fred ride onto stage)
Prince Hector: Let’s go find me a wife, Fred. I would like to meet a girl who is thoughtful, intelligent, and honest. But most of all, I want to marry a girl who likes peas.
Fred: Peas, your highness?
Prince Hector: Yes, peas. I love peas. Nice, crisp peas, right from the garden.
Fred: Yes, your highness.
(Prince Hector and Fred ride around on their horses while Chorus sings.)
Chorus: Searching for a princess. Riding through the breeze. Searching for a princess who likes fresh picked peas.
(They find Princess Henna.)
Princess Henna: (curtsies) Hello. I am Princess Henna.
Prince Hector: (bows) Hello. My name is Prince Hector. I was wondering, do you like peas?
Princess Henna: I like parrots, roasting marshmallows, and scuba diving. But I do not like peas.
Fred: Are you sure?
Princess Henna: Yes, I’m sure.
Prince Hector: Hmmm. OK then. It was nice to meet you.
Princess Henna: And you as well, goodbye.
Prince Hector and Fred: Goodbye.
Narrator: Prince Hector and his servant, Fred rode their horses all through the night and into the next day.

Princess Daisy: (curtsies) Hello. I am Princess Daisy.
Prince Hector: (bows) Hello. My name is Prince Hector. Do you like peas?
Princess Daisy: I like armadillos, painting pictures of giraffes, and playing badminton, but I do not like peas.
Fred: Are you sure?
Princess Daisy: Yes, I’m sure.
Prince Hector: Hmmm. OK then. It was nice to meet you.
Princess Daisy: And you as well, goodbye.
Prince Hector and Fred: Goodbye.
