A Baker brags that his three daughters can spin straw into gold. The Queen hears this story and locks the daughters in a room with straw and a spinning wheel and tells them to turn it into gold. The first two daughters are helped by fairies to spin the straw into gold. But, in the case of the third daughter, a strange, little man comes to help her. He says he will spin the straw into gold if she gives him her first born. She agrees. Later, when she has a child, the little man comes to take the baby. The girl must guess the little man's name in order to keep her child.

"What a lovely adaptation of a classic fairy tale! ... Loved the simplicity of this adaptation. Kudos to the author for putting in so much effort. She’s made it into a ready-to-use recipe. It seems a novice can also direct the play taking the instructions from the book. Even the minutest details pertaining to the design of a spinning wheel, lyrics of the song along with notes of the music, and emotions to be displayed by the characters, have been explained with lot of clarity and precision. I’m sure that young children will love to play the characters, as portrayed in the story."

"Another fabulous play for kids! Followed the same format as the other plays in the Showbiz Series, with the addition of notes on how to build a spinning wheel, which I though was a great idea! Again this is a great activity to do with your class!"
